  1. I've been watching Enterprise every now and again and it seems to be a pretty good show.

I'm not a Star Trek fan though so I don't watch and go "oh my god, didnt the spastic species die out during DS9 series 11, episode 3".

To expand on that a bit did you see the one where Tripp and Tpal go to Vulcan together? When there there she and her mother interact a lot. The one odd thing I found was Tpal called her "MOM"???? I mean I know vulcans have emotions they just control them but was she losing control then or something??? I mean ENTERPRISE really changed the whole character of Vulcans considerably.

I didn't like them making MINDMELDS "violations" and unethical. That one where they had renegade vulcans beam aboard and confront tpal. The "DANGEROUS MINDMELD" that made her ill???? I mean come on SPOCK does it dozens of times and thats only what fifty years after ENTERPRISE???? That seems like a short time for a "TABOO" to become a social norm. Didn't it always seem like MINDMELDS were some long standing tradition among vulcans?????

Wouldn't matter in this case as ENTERPRISE is a prequel to all other Star Trek series and movies - although they've made some glaring omissions and history rewrites to be sure....

The markings on the ship are USS Defiant NCC 1764.

    @yoda313

Flox is one of my favorite characters also. I just found that in 4 seasons we learned so little about the characters. Flox had a friend he wrote to because we heard him dictate in one story but that was weak because there was no character interaction. Just as an example, we also know they have multiple partners but that said no supporting characters to expand on that point. Just bringing out a particular quirk doesn't develop it enough.

BTW its Phlox not Flox. Also T'pol and not Tpal. So is this Defiant just a constitution class one with the same name as the one in DS9?

    Hi,

Sorry as you know I'm not a big fan of Enterprise so I haven't taken to memorize the correct spelling!

I saw it and it was great!! Definitely one of the best enterprise episodes to date! I was amazed at how accurately they recreated the scene from First Contact and actually brought Cochrane back for the shooting, it was pretty cool!! 8)

I finally caught that show on sunday. I thought it seemed kind of foolish, with the alternate universe theory. I guess by making the women dress skanky makes this an alternate universe is not my cup of tea. To make it more credible they should have made the women in command and dress the men in this tube tops . I did like the ending scene with the old enterprise, uh in this context of the show I guess it would be new. Looking forward to next weeks episode. I wonder If they can use clips from the old star trek. Nice to see kirk and the boys. -garman

    Umm... Yes!

Didn't you see the DS9 episode TRIALS AND TRIBBELATIONS???? They blended the original footage and the ds9 crew. Worked beautifully too.

There was also that VOYAGER episode where TAKEI guest starred and they reused the explosion shock wave footage from STAR TREK 6.

In reference to your "uhmm yes". Are you saying they will be putting in clips from the old series or are you saying it's technically possible. I know the latter of the two is correct. My question really will they add the footage in upcomming episodes. -cheers!

    Hi,

garman - sorry I guess I was being a little childish there. Paramount can do whatever they want with they're own program.

I don't know if they will have flashback clips but since its a prequel I guess it wouldn't work out right.

Appologies not required yoda. I think they can ad clips from the old series and blend them in with enterprise, I don't know if they would be willing, due to the cost and the lack of interest from viewers. Anyway I'll wait and see on the next episodes what they do technically. -garman

I stop watching Enterprise after it's second season.Too American for me.
TOS and TNG where more "universal". They had a more international appealing.
Voyager has it moments (the "Doctor" episodes reminded me the TNG days) and DS9... well... I didn't like it, sorry! (Babylon 5 fan here!)

JMS would be great for Star Trek, but I don't see this ever happen.

Today, SciFi TV Shows have a crisis. There is nothing worth watching... Maybe those manga cartoons are a good alternative after all...

I Just finished watching the third season of "Yamato" (AKA Starblazers in USA). For a 70s / early 80s cartoon series, that actually was good! Far ahead of it's time.
    Now, what's next? Hmm.....

You should check out Sg-1, Atlantis, and Battlestar Galactica, all IMO great new scifi shows. They all have a unique story to tell, and BSG has been hailed as the most important scifi show since TOS. All very good!

  16. BSG is over rated. Don't get me wrong, it isn't bad or anything. It just seems to me that Moore has no real idea where the show is going. Also I am sick of the Baltar/Six scenes.

DS9 had big problems early on but slowly grew on me. Mind you having OBRIEN was a good start and adding WORF didn't hurt either!

I'm not a Stargate fan (don't mention that the only way to watch it is through satellite foreigner television, this show doesn't air at my country)
Battlestar Galactica.. Well... I was able to watch it couple of times from Sky one (don't ask how I recieve this channel in Hellas, my pocket pains...). It has potention, but it is sllloooowwwwww....

Also, IMO, the most important show after ST TOS is Babylon 5.
Some SciFI researchers, also point Yamato (first story-arc SciFi epic, even in a cartoon form)

    Hi,

I would think TNG would rate higher than BABYLON 5 in any net poll. No offense satstorm just I believe TNG has a wider appeal as one of the top tier sci fi series.

(I liked the little of what I saw of Babylon 5 but I never really got hooked)

Yeah actually I'm gonna change my opinion, B5 is the most important since TOS. My enjoyment of BSG has been artificially inflated because its the only new scifi that I to watch now.

  22. Yoda, TNG would win a popularity contest, but B5 did something that as far as I know hasn't been done before or since then.

B5 did have something truely amazing about it. The character of Londo Mollari and the progression that he goes through over the course of the series alone is absolutely amazing!

B5 fell apart in the last two seasons. I wish Harlan Ellison had gotten around to writing the proposed sequel to The Outer Limits' "Demon With a Glass Hand". My personal favorite SF show is DS9.

I didn't watch Enterprise for the first two seasons, though I thoroughly enjoyed everything since. Sorry to see it go now that it has finally hit its stride.

Nah, I reckon as not like the original Star Trek TV Episodes as I only watched one episode of Enterprise and no more.

I didn't like at all as so disappointed of that just for once.

Kevin, I am a Star Trek fan I love the original TV series as so good watch.

It is just that the Enterprise isn't the same as it sucks.

You are judging the show on one episode? That doesn't make a whole lot of sense. So I should judge TOS on 'Spock's Brain'?

  30. I believe in the very first or second episode of Enterprise they had allready blown the whole idea of exploring an earlier time in Trek history. They were allready in an alien space port seeing all kinds of aliens. It felt just like the other Star Treks but warmed over.

I never saw even a single episode of enterprise that couldn't have been an episode of STTNG. They really really blew it.

Loved Bacula in Quantum Leap but he is so bland in Enterprise.
