  1. What is the difference between canopus procoder 2 vs something like Ulead media studio pro? I mean i understand that Ulead media does alot that the procoder doesn't do but if you can already output whatever format you want from Ulead media pro why would you even want to use something like canopus procoder? The only purpose of using procoder is to do encoding but when you output nearly any editor has built in encoding. I mean unless you are going to edit your work then save it as a uncompress file to be compress in procoder. But isn't that a waste of time since you are now going to 2 programs?

Procoder is a much better encoder than Ulead is, but has very little in the way of editing capabilities.

A dedicated converter will run much faster, and give better output, than an editor/converter combo. Add to that the fact that Procoder express is a lot cheaper than media studio pro...

  3. so it is recommended to do all your editing in a good editor like ulead and then save it as a uncompressed file and let something like procoder 2/discreet XL (independent encoder) to do the encoding?

Is VirtualDub considered a Encoder or a editor? I mean it's pretty fast with it's encoding.
