Damn, my VCR just ate another one of my favorite old videos.

Probably the same reason people copy their audio tapes to CD. I know I don't want to and can't afford to go buy a new CD or DVD every time one of my tapes gets ruined.

That's something that people who can afford to build 12 speaker multimedia rooms don't understand. They think that people that are living just above poverty can afford to buy music CDs and DVD movies and are really killing the industry when they copy something that they can't afford to buy.

  3. Why waste time making posts like this... ever heard the old saying "opinions are like a$$holes...."?

Everyone has their reasons... who cares if he thinks it's a waste of time... he's obviously wasting our time!!

No, that's for people who don't already own the CD or don't have any friends that have it either on tape or CD.

It used to be easy enough to share files before EVERYONE got highspeed internet and started using all these P2P file sharing networks but now everythings either spyware or you gotta worry about spending ten years in prison for downloading a song you like. I myself would rather have a high quality file that I captured from my cassette player than an MP3 file I downloaded anyway. Not sure why people are paying big money to deal in MP3.

  5. ActuallyI just did and old HBO special from 1980 when they were running some Burlesque shows. This one starred Red Buttons etc. Typical fare baggy pants comics, dancers, strippers, risque humor. I was laughing so hard at one of the skits.

If I didn't transfer it to DVD where would I get a DVD of it from when the Tape dies?

    Home movies too.

    YMMV
