Still trying to backup a region 2 disc of Resident Evil Apocolype,
ive read the forums so far and used DVD Decrypter to create a disc image file with the intention of using DVD Shrink to fit it to a DVDR, however im still getting the "invalid structure message" when i load the image file, any ideas what im doing wrong guys?
Cheers

Are you using the latest versions? DVDDecrypter, DVDShrink
If not its time to update my friend. -
-
No no. Do not encourage him.
All "hey how do I beat this new copy protection" questions should be answered first by saying "GET THE LATEST DVD DECRYPTER". When that fails, we need to find the person and hit them in the mouth. -
DVD DECRYPTER VERSION 3.5.4.0
DVD SHRINK VERSION 3.2.0.15
So yes i do infact use the latest versions of both programs but i am still encountering errors,
seems to me Gurm has a big mouth, and his reply to everyone seems to be
GET
THE
LATEST
DVD
DECRYPTER
Well Gurm, i have the latest and guess what? still aint working buddy, maybe next post youll have something usefull to say, if not dont even bother.. -
I had the same problems with dvd decrypter until I got the latest version then it worked like a charm...but since I do not use dvdshrink I can not tell you if it will work. Why not try to use DVDRB instead I worked for me...

It is rare that the latest version of decrypter doesn't work on these disks, and it is very common that people swear blind that they have the latest version of decrypter, you know, version 3.1.2.0, so Gurm's frustration is understandable. The only other program that seems to hit these disks as well as or better than decrypter is the latest version of AnyDVD. It is also updated more frequently than decrypter, so it is more likely to catch up with any subtle changes to the tricks earlier.

Do you have another version of DVD Decrypter installed? If so uninstall. If not check the settings on dvddecrypter
Life is like a pothole, you just have to learn to get around it. -
Did you uninstall your old version of DVD Decrypter? I'm not trying to be mean, but you have NO idea how many people go "I have the latest" and then have 3.1.2.0, seriously one guy SWORE he had the latest and after like 3 days finally said "yeah 3.1.2.0!"
You MUST uninstall the old one first. I don't know what it leaves hanging around the machine, but it's best to completely uninstall before reinstalling, and to make sure that you're using all the stock settings. -
If that doesn't work try taking it back to the video rental store and requesting a different copy.

Now that's what I call Not Beating Around the Bush
I didn't have the nerveNo DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD! -
Thanks to everyone who has given me tips, im gonna have another try, this time using AnyDVD, the version of DVD Decrpyter i have (3.5.4.0 ) was the first i downloaded so i dont think its anyting i previosly had on my system thats messed it up, but who know eh? Ill report back if AnyDVD works,
and thanks guys, i did read the previous posts before i made mine and i saw how many ppl had made similar requests without bothering to research first, i understand if that gets the regulars on here slightly annoyed.
off to try AnyDVD, results will follow...Cheers -

Oh c'mon.
*sigh*
I am going to write a new forum software, where in order to make your first dozen posts you have to answer a series of increasingly difficult questions designed to make sure you've READ THE DAMN FAQ. -
i still like the "newb smasher" idea.. it goes well with the full metal jacket guy. man i wanna see that movie again now.

UPDATE - as for AnyDVD i cant comment, i didnt use it, i decided to do a reinstall of my XP, no real prob as i keep all my files on another HD and use the other solely for my OS, anyway since doing this i have succesfully copied the disc in question, using latest DVD Decrypter and DVD shrink. Im guessing somewhere along the lines i had a conflicting DLL or something, anyway guys thanks again. 8)
