Hi guys,
I'm trying to record direct from my VCR, using the line-in as my audio input. I've connected it up however the sound levels seem to be too high, the audio bars max out if the line-in level is anything above mute. When i record however it *does* seem to sound alright although is very loud still for the volume the playback device is set to.
Any ideas?

Please try reducing the audio level from the source (VCR or whatever).
Let us know if it helps. -
You can buy a $5 "Attenuating Patch Cable" from Radio Shack which will lower the incoming signal. Still, are certain you're connected to line in and NOT mic in ?

Doesn't your capture card have an audio in jack?

Hi,
I dont think its possible to reduce the audio out on my VCR. I've managed to record it and it sounds alright..just a bit louder than everything else on a set volume level.
And yep my capture card does have an audio in, but for some reason the capturing software i was using wouldn't pick it up.
