I think I posted it about it before but I can't seem to find it.

I've been OTR the last couple of months but I'm now going to be home every weekend.

One of my small projects is to convert my PAL VHS tapes to editable format like AVI and then convert it into DVD format for use in my DVD player.

I saw a simular post but not an ATI specific post. The ATI will take a PAL signal in and do the conversion or will output PAL to the PC screen so I can see it.

    Is that correct?

If that's the case then all I need is a Multisystem VCR that outputs in PAL and no converter onboard? That would save at least $100 if not more. But I have though about buying one anyway since I don't have a VCR and I'm not sure if the Sony N-700 HiFi VCR we have will have the same problem with out Tivo units. Which is it takes the recorded signal from the Save to VCR line output but records it on to video in Black and White, not color. I fear the Sony will treat my ATI card no different and give me some soft of macrovision error like I think we're getting with the DTV Tivo unit.

I would like to start this project soon so please help me! lol

  2. My sister inlaw is from chez republic and she wanted to do the very same thing. She bought a pal playing vhs player and we hooked the scart cable to the ATI card. I changed the settings in the capture device to pal m I believe and converted a hole bunch of things for her.

MPG or AVI will work fine just adjust the settings.

from what ive read, the ati cards either do pal or ntsc, not both
A penny saved is a waste of time. One in the hand is only worth 0.5 in the bush. A stitch in time saves nothing.

  5. ATI cards can do both PAL & NTSC, but ONLY on the Composite/S-Video input.
The TV-Tuner input is restricted to PAL OR NTSC (not both).

    He's correct -

When you buy your All In Wonder or TV Wonder there's a check marked on the box that says PAL or NTSC.

In your MMC software you can switch to any format available when using the break out box.

I just haven't picked up a player yet.. Been working on the car
