I find that some dvd-rs loose their sound after a while. Further, some dvd-rs will have good sound when played on a dvd drive in a pc but almost no sound on a dvd standalone. Is there any way to fix this?

  2. That is the oddest thing I have heard today. Buy a better DVD player or receiver would be my suggestion. Maybe your speakers are blown or the speaker wires have a short.

  5. Agreed- all signs point to your set-top player being defective.
Alignment tolerances on optical drive mechanisms are "tighter" than vcrs.
    Still under warranty? (yeah right)

I would agree with others. DVDRs do not just loose sound after a while. It could be a defective dvd player.

Does the same happen with commercial DVDs?
