  1. Hi. I followed sefys guide and have copied over 20 dvd movies and burnt into vcds.
How can I make xvcd? What's the difference and is there a guide for it?

  2. I'm glad to hear the guide worked well for you, as for doing XVCD, or SVCD, or any other MPEG based format, simply load in a diffrent Template in TMPGEnc, or do your own settings

For example, if you increate the Bitrate on the VCD Template, it is sorta of XVCD

  3. Would you recommend that I do my movies in xvcd since they are supposedly better quality? I have a panasonic dvd player that is compatible w/ xvcd.
thanks for the quick response. Your vcd guide is the easiest guide to follow that I've ever since and have not burnt a single coaster.

  4. Thank you for the compliments
I think if you can't fit the entire movie on a single CD, and you must split it, then it would be nice to use XVCD on each part to get the higher quality.

  6. Sefy, as for increasing the bitrate on TMPGEnc, it's not an option for me in the setting tab. no way to increase it.
Can you help out a fool please?

  7. aglips, I didn't make any XVCD Templates, but i'm sure some are available on the Tools section, as for changing bitrate, if you loaded up a VCD Template, simply load the unlock Template, and then you will be able to do changes.

  8. SEFY, i agree with aglips. your guide is very helpful and accurate. thanx. now for a question. i want to capture directly to xsvcd. do i start as if i was doing a vcd and change to mpeg2 and 480x480 and vbr of whatever my dvd player can handle?

    Thanx again

  9. scrillah, you mentioned capture, that would depend on your capture card, if it is capable of supporting higher then VCD settings.

    Sefy:

I've been having trouble cutting xVCD files, the resulting second half ends up out of sync.
Which, do you think is the best way of cutting those files ?
By the way I've been using Tmpeg 2.01

    Thanx in advance.

  11. This is a very common problem, especialy when cutting a file that does not use any standard, it is best if possible that you encode the movie in two parts, this will both save you the time for splitting it later, and also will not cause A/V Syncs.

  12. SEFY, I use an ATI A-I-W 128 pro and from what I know, it is supposed to capture at higher than vcd. I used to capture on mpeg2.

  13. scrillah, If you've already used captures, then just make all the settings you need, and do the capture, you shouldn't have any problems if it worked for you so far.

  14. SEFY, that's what i'm confused about. I don't know what settings to use for xsvcd. is it just changing to 480x480 and a VBR? if so what's the best vbr to use or should i use a CBR? i don't mean to sound stupid, but i guess i can't help it.

  15. hey aglips,

while in TMPG, just go to file, and new.
And then this will allow you to change everything, including the bitrate.

  16. scrillah, there are no "standard" settings for XVCD, each one will do the changes usually according to the movie length, and amount of CD's being used.
