I have a DVD that is playing slightly tall. I think it was authored improperly, the characters etc. are all a little stretched so they look just a little squeezed tall.
Is there a way to re-author the disc without adding a generation to the encoded video and get it stretched proper? (a little wider)
-thanks

It sounds like it is a 16:9 anamorphic disk, but doesn't have the 16:9 flags set correct. Demux the video and audio, then use restream on the video file to change the AR flag to 16:9, reauthor and you should be OK.
Before you get too carried away, is you DVD player set to display 16:9 as letterbox (assuming you don't have a widescreen TV, of course).Read my blog here.
