Most of us have a DVD recorder in our PC.
We also spend a lot of time setting up OS and various application software to do video/audio editing, etc...
I used Ghost (or PQDI) to back up image on CD-R. Need to boot from a floppy to perform back up or restore.
What kind of software you use to back up your system Hard drive to DVD recordable disc ?

Depens on which system and setup
Compaq winxp home sp1. Did not come with install os or driver disc, just a set of recovery cd's
For this system I use bootable disc made with Barts PE with the Nero plug-in and burn all to data dvd (s)
On other systems I am using dual boot 98se and xp pro 2000 sp/1
Boot to other os and burn all to dvd(s)
As noted in another thread, to restore the os & programs you need to
copy three folders:
1. Documents & Settings
2. Windows
3. Program files
Method based on thread from this forum of using dual boot w/o paid software for doing complete backup. I just completed it by also burning to dvd(s) -
Ghost. I've been using it in all its iterations for about 5 years now so I'm too familiar with its features to try anything else. Haven't had any troubles with it either so no reason for me to go to anything else.

Acronis True Image
These days you can put in a 2nd hd & make a complete duplicate of your original hd on it to switch at anytime. -
Ghost and I take special care to make sure my default system fits on on DVD-R.

The other workstation got its Ghost DVD with XP MCE 2005, latest drivers, peripheral MCE apps, codecs, and a few peripheral apps like the TMPGEnc suite.
