  1. I ripped one of my dvd's with smartripper
Worked well, played properly in Powerdvd
Used DVDSanta to shrink and burn
    Video and audio very jerky
Any suggestions as to better method of shrinking and burning files ripped by Smartripper to a single 4.7g dvd-r.
Or better method of ripping and burning.
Am Interested in preserving as much quality as possible.

You can try DVDShrink. I use it all of the time as do most of the others at this site. Give it a try. If you are thinking of shrinking more than 20-30% you can expect some quality loss, regardless of the path you take. That is if you stick to the one disk backup philosophy.

Give DVDShrink a try, its free. What can be better.

  5. DVDShrink tips:
If you have to compress >20% use Deep Analysis and if >30% use AEC.Another option is to use Re-author and do away with the menus, etc.

DVD Shrink to decrypt, encode, re-author and shrink and DVD Decrypter to burn to an ISO image, extremely user friendly.

Both applications are FREE and BRILLIANT.

Your friend is an idiot. Ignore that person.

  9. DVDShrink will pixelate only if extremely high compression is applied, but then any program will piselate at high compression. I have found DVDShrink to be a very reliable and outstanding quality program. Every bit as good, if not better, than programs you pay for.
