  1. I have a Tyan S2668 MB with 2 SATA drives setup in a Raid configuration. The boot drive is on the Main IDE cable and a CD burner on the Secondary IDE cable. This is for an audio production system.

Now for the question. I want to add another IDE drive to be dedicated to some video files. Do I put it on the Main or Secondary IDE cable? Which connector on the cable should I use and what settings should I have on the new drive?

I know this is basic stuff, but I don't do it often enough to remember. sad.gif
    Thanks

I would put it on the secondary IDE channel for the simple fact that unless you are ripping a DVD to it, will you not be reading and writing over the same IDE channel regularly.

I would also make it the slave drive on the secondary IDE channel. That makes cable routing easier since your CD burner is located higher on your tower.
