  1. What is something you bought, like when it first came out and then BAAMMM... its so cheap your digusted?

I own a music studio, and everything from hardware/software is always changing in price. Thats to be expected! But I remember a few years ago, I bought a 16x Yamaha CD burner, which was the fastest at the time, the only maker of a 16x and paid $296.00 for it! Can u imagine paying $296.00 for a damn CD burner nowadays? Although I have burnt it up awhile ago... I still have that mofo for keep-sake!

And.... I bought a PS2 video game Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow for like $40 bucks... well, went to get the new Splinter Cell today... and saw that the one I bought more than a year ado is still $49.00! WTF

I bought a Sony DRU-something last year and the prices dropped about two months later. I paid $150-ish when I bought it and that was for a single layer burner. Now the 2 layer burners are going for $50-$80.

    ouch! $1600.00?

i waited until 4X media was @ $2.00 a piece before I bought my DVD burner for $180.00 on sale. I thought I got such a deal.
Now the DL burners are only $100.00 for top-of-the-line.
    Paid $300.00 for PlayStation2....
    Paid $120.00 for a 40G hard-drive (again, on sale)....

I've learnt to live with 2nd generation stuff these days regarding PC's unless I get a good bargain. A few years back I was buying the latest greatest thing as soon as it hit the shelves and losing £'s every single day afterwards . That was when building PC's and overclocking/tuning them to get more for your money was fun 8). I was building PC's left, right and centre so I would just use my old parts (few months old) and buy the latest stuff for my PC so upgrading cost me next to nothing 8). I've probably got a few £1000's worth of equipment just collecting dust these days as the benefits of self build aren't as great . Selling the bits for pennies now would be too painful . I will get round to building a few PC's out of them one day as they will still raise a few £'s

you could save a fortune if you built your own PC as prebuilts were heavily overpriced. Again, it's not as much fun these days as bragging that your home built PC pisses all over your mates for a lot less money isn't as funny

someone here probably probably paid more than that as they were expensive (probably over $3000) when they first came out and only burnt super slow speeds . I remember seeing a DVD burner for a ridiculous price of over $10,000. Is that right, where they ever that much or was that just the professional ones?

I've still got about 30 1x DVD-R discs I paid silly prices for as I wasn't really a burn freak

    Hello,

About three years ago when I bought my Sony 5.1 digital receiver. It was $200 for a 80watt x 6 DOLBY DIGITAL and DTS receiver. Great deal.

BUT about two or three months later there was a Sony receiver with the same wattage and Dolby + DTS AND DOLBY PROLOGIC 2!!!!! DOH! If I had waited a few weeks I could have had a really awesome upcoding for all my prologic videotapes.

Oh well... I still love my Sony receiver.

I've still got a Pioneer MultiDisk 100 CD changer from 10 years back. Even now it looks cool sitting below my Kenwood hi-fi but it cost a fortune originally

I was just browsing in a hi-fi shop and saw this 'jukebox' reduced to £800 or something. It was reduced as it was a special order that someone had cancelled. The remote stores all the CD info, so listening to CD's is made simple. I've had it over 10 years now and it's served me well 8)

I nearly sold it 7 years ago for a decent price along with my private plate but the guy who was gonna buy it found that the new Pioneer's were cheaper than what he was going to pay me (I didn't know they had dropped). After that it got to the point of 'I may as well keep it now' and it's worth a pittance in comparision to what it was priced new though but still saves me swapping CD's. I'd dare say there will be some CD's that have been in it for 10 years as my stack has a 7 disc changer also. Once in a while, normally at parties I'll fire the old bird up 8)

I've just found one on ebay currently for €16
