Slight pause every second when playing back dvd-r's?

Hello all

I hope someone can enlighten me as to why our dvd player does this

Playing shop bought dvd's = Fine
Playing backed up or downloaded films on our dvd player is where we have problems

I often copy films we allready own onto dvd r so we don't wear out our original disks
When playing, there's a slight pause every 1/2 seconds or so, which is very annoying and notices when there's a slow camera pan scene or slow scene.
It doesn't notice in action scenes or when there's dialog

Any ideas?

I assume by "download" you actually mean "copy from disc to computer".
