  1. I have a Panasonic RP-62 Stand alone player and I just purchased a Double Layer DVD burnner for my Computer. The double layers' that I am burnning don't play properly with my stand alone Panasonic. So I am going to have to buy a newer Stand Alone player that is compatible with Double Layer Media...

What is the best stand alone DVD player to play burnt DVD-R DL's or DVD+R DL's ?

p.s. I tried searching thru "https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers" for a good one but the list lists dvd players that haven't even been tested for DL usage, plus I would like to get the opions of others (experts) on the forum.

    Thanks,
    BassKozz

dont really know about DVD-R DL, i dont think they're available yet. but as far as DVD+R DL, my pioneer dv-270 plays them just fine (glides across layer break just fine). its a pretty well rounded dvd player. if you're not looking for a play that has macro/region hacks or mp4 playback, it's a champ.

I have a hunch my TOSHIBA will be fine, but no proof to back that up just yet. I would bet most of the cheaper or "expensive" players are not so cooperative. The reflectivity is along the lines of RW media, so use that as a base guess system to start researching.

  6. I have a Sony DVP - NS725 and it plays DVD+R DL discs just fine even without bitsetting them to DVD-ROM. I would recommend bitsetting the discs anyways. You can pick up the Sony for about $99.
