  1. I wonder how I can join two mpeg files with VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod (if it is possible at all).
I know how to join AVI files with VirtualDub. But, I don't seem to be able to follow the same procedure with MPEG files.
Do I need to convert to AVI first and the join them or is there a workaround?
Alternatively what's the best freeware available out there that can do that?
I am trying to re-author a TV broadcasted movie that I recorded in XP mode with my Panasonic DMRE85H. In fact I had to split the movie in two parts in order to fit it onto DVD-Ram discs to avoid to dub it in the lower quality SP settings (the movie is 95 mins and I could only fit one hour on one disc in XP mode).
I have tried VideoReDo. But the trial version is limited to only 30 mins. So, I can't see if I will have audio/video sync issues.
I have also tried "AVI/MPEG/RM/WMV Joiner" by Boilsoft.com. But, either I don't know how to use it or it is bugged.
When it starts it says that the two mpeg files have different audio bps. How can tha be if they come from the same source? Besides, after starting the joining it does not seem to stop, keeping on writing to the new file with huge resulting size.
Any help will be higly appreciated.

You can look to the left for basic MPEG editors. https://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=8#8

VD won't do it for you. I generally use TMPGEnc encoder and the merge function. There's a freeware version at that link above that should be able to merge, just not encode to MPEG-2. Some of the other freeware ones may work also, never tried them, though.

If your final product is DVD, you don't need to join. The authoring program will do that for you.

One title. Add mpeg 1. Add mpeg 2. Remove chapter point inserted at join. Done.

Never join anything unless you really, really, really, really have to. And when that day comes, use Womble mpeg vcr to join mpegs.

You can also use Project-X to join (concatenate) MPEG2-file while at the same time demultiplexing them. IFOEdit for example then can build a DVD-structure from the joined elementary streams which then you might have to burnto a duallayer-DVD as your final DVD-structure most likely will be much larger than 4,37 GB.

You did! But I assumed you meant that.
How do I remove the chapter point inserted at joint? I can't figure that out.

Sounds a bit too complicate for what I intend to do or shud I say for I CAN do!?!?.
Besides, if I can work things out with softwares I already have, like TDA, that would be even better!
    But, thank you anyway.
