I have a project for school, and i have to make a video and my plan is to use Chroma Key for the video. what i am going to do, take an image or footage of a monopoly board, and i was wondering if i could shrink 2 individuals to act as the playing pieces of the game. I understand most of the project, the only thing i really don't understand is how can the individuals walk on the board if the Chroma Key is a board standing vertical behind the characters :S well any help would really be appreciated thanks in advance.

You may want to try having the actor standing on a large blue or green tarp and shoot them from overhead. Maybe from atop of a tall step ladder or whatever. Then simply key in the color of the tarp and resize down the footage to overlay over the board image.

like at school we have the green board, but its just staning verticle, like so that you can stand in front of it, but i don't think they would alow us to stand on top of the green board, i mean they are expensive. The teacher did tell me something about shooting the video in a similar angle you were telling me, so if you can further elaborate, cause i need a bit more understanding please. thanks

You definitely need to shoot vertical, such that your actor is walking on a green screen. If you are worried about using expensive equipment, go to one of the art stores and purchase green table cloth. I recently purchased a 100' roll for $7.

A green board would be ideal but not nesicery. You can use a simple Green Plastic or canvas tarp on the floor. You can get the tarp cheap at any local department store. You can key in the color in Premiere to set it transparent. You'll have to play with the settings until you get the results you want.

You can also mask off parts of the frame nearer the camera, using pieces of green or blue card (the same colour as your main background). You need to light the card to the same brightness as the main scene. This saves you having to cover a huge area of your 'studio' when the actors are just standing still in the centre of frame.
In Sony Vegas (if you can get hokd of a copy of that) you can set a coloured 'cookie' that does the same thing. -
After experimenting for a while, i found out that Chroma Key can also use different color back grounds other than blue and green. I was just experimenting, and i used a red back ground and got just as good results. all you have to do is set up the transparency on the red color.
