Why on GOD'S GREEN EARTH does VirtualDubMod take 15 minutes to save off a WAV file from an XVID, when VirtualDub can do it in about a minute?

Is it doing a better job? Is it making a list and checking it twice? Have I been naughty - or is it just not nice?

  2. Never liked VdubMod. Newbies should look at Virtualdub-Mpeg2 first.

Seriously, is it just bad coding? I thought VDubmod was supposed to include all the stuff Vdub-mpeg2 does?

    Extrapolating a bit...not audio...

I have abandoned the use of virtualdubmod. I use virtualdub primarily for capture and the mod version ALWAYS has overruns on my rig while the standard does not. Maybe its my wimpy 1.6G P4. Vdubmpeg2 has been handy at times, but I stick with the good old base version. It works great and is a reliable workhorse imho.
