subtitle question....

I know a lot of people will tell me to check and look into Guide section or call me dumb or other names.
I've tried to look for what I want but no success. so here I am posting somewhat stupid question.

I've been looking for guide to extract subtitle(ONLY) from DVD(any movie). I want to rip it to either .txt or .smi file.
Does anybody know which software should I use, or direct me to right guide or forum, PLEASE!
