  1. Hi!

I want to remove commercials and intros to a couple of MPEG1 files but don't know what editor that I should use, of if it's possible. I tried VirtualDub with 'Direct Stream Mode' but get the error: "The source video stream uses a compression algorithm wich is not compatible with AVI files. Direct stream copy cannot be used with this video stream."

Is it possible to edit MPEG1 files without losses? Is it possible to do with VirtualDub or any other software? I would prefer not to re-encode the files again.

It is not possible with virtualdub.

cut mpeg1 with tmpgenc(under file->mpeg tools) or mpegvcr or videoredo.

mpegvcr. In my experience, cutting with TMPGEnc has a high probability of creating out of sync end results. I think I've even read that TMPGEnc only reliably cuts mpegs encoded with TMPGEnc.
