Tried to back up SIDEWAYS and it locked up both my Pioneer DVD-ROM I use for ripping and my Plextor 712-A burner.

    Any ideas?

    New rip guard finally out?

Return the disc and get a new one. If the new one locks up as well then maybe it's your dvdrom and dvd burner on it's way out. Try the disc on a friends pc.
