  1. I get "Canopus Procoder has encoutered the problem and it needs to close" while encoding DV AVI into MPEG2.

I had the Procoder working before, but I get this "Application Error" now, and I don't know what to do. I've tried to encode the same DV AVI over an over and it would fail in different spots (at the begiing, middle or end). I've tried different DV AVIs and the same thing.

I even reformatted my drive, loaded XP from scratch, tried Procoder before loading SP1, then after SP1, then after SP2, but I still get this error.

I've searched the web and different forums for this error but I could not find anything. Please Help!

    Install AviSynth

Create a text file called AVIFILE.AVS

enter the following command in it

    AviSource("c:\dvfileLocation\dvfile.avi")

Obviously, change the line to reflect the location and file name of your DV file.

Open up the .AVS file in Procoder.

    Voila

dont use the dvd profile - use the standard mpeg profile and set the settings as dvd (select dvd first and then select standard iso mpeg, which will set most of the settings correctly) .. it is a bug , will be fixed in the service pack out any time now ..

also -- there are several builds of PC 2, make sure you are using the latest ..

  4. it could be a codec problem. try to install the codec for that avi file.
and, maybe, there is a problem with your output file, you try to comvert intto something wrong.

he said it was a DV file - so not a input codec issue

in terms of the codec anyway
