Win98 crashed too incredibly often to have any kind of reliability; 2000 never crashed once on me yet had all kinds of crappy problems with video codecs, XP has been great....although quite a big number of linux fans and continuing to grow daily; who knows.......I already switched to OpenOffice.org and it's way better than MS Office..

Yeah, all my equipment has been free and I try to do everything with free or trial software. I have done a lot on the web with what I have; the VCD creation is one thing that has elluded me. Thanks for all the advice and humor. I'll come back someday when the next generation of computers get tossed in the dumpster and I get one.
