    Hiee!

I am going to be doing a lot of video editing on my computer. Need some help from anyone who has the time

What is a better platform to edit video on?

    ---------------
    System:
    Windows 98 (Second Edition)
    4.10.2222 A

    Computer:
    AuthenticAMD
    AMD Athlon(tm) Processor
    448.0MB RAM
    Hard Drive Space: 60 GB
    ---------------
    OR
    ---------------
    System:
Windows XP (Version 2002 – Service Pack 2)
    Dell Inspiron 600M
    Intel(R) Pentium(R) M
    Processor 1500MHz
317 MHz, 512 MB of RAM
    Hard Drive Space: 60 GB
    ---------------

The bottom Computer is my Laptop. What I would like to know is if one of the above is Considerably Better than the other? Will one to the other help with producing much more quality videos?
Personally, I would like to use my PC (the first one).

FYI - Here’s what I plan on using my PC for:
I host a variety show in a lounge in my city and I am planning on adding a Projector to the mix. With that, I plan on editing 2 to 15 minute videos for my audience.

Thanks for reading! Any help would be great!

Editing video in Win98? Don't even try it. You're limited to the Fat32 file structure and its 4 Gb limit. Upgrage that machine to XP or 2000 and convert your hard drives to NTFS, then consider editing. But, in all honesty, you'd be far better off with a completely new machine. The ones you have can get the job done, but it will take you much, much longer, and be much, much, much more dificult.

    Hi!

Forum Troll, thanks for the response

...it will take you much, much longer, and be much, much, much more dificult.
Why will it take me longer and be more difficult?
What do you suggest I do?

    Thanks.

  4. First of all, you definitely need a better operating system. Windows XP would be a better choice. Second of all, you definitely need bigger harddrives. 60gigs is not enough.

I am a laptop editor my self, but unfortunately 600m won't be able to handle some processor intensive applications. Also, get more RAM for your system. What application do you plain on using to edit?
