Just captured a video about assembling a kit aircraft. I'm converting it to a DVD from a VHS master tape for the client. (the aircraft manufacturer - www.ultralight.ca in case you're interested)

On that note, I could use a hand with a problem. See the thread entitled "large DV-AVI from WMM2 capture not working in PP1.0"

  8. Capturing the new Doctor Who and any worthwhile film/documentary/drama that may happen along.

Converting my Doctor Who VHS collection as well as a fair sized collection of off air VHS taken since 1985, to DVD. Some are re-doos as they were previously done as (x)VCDs.

Always on the lookout in charity shops and boot fairs for old British TV VHS releases as many may never reach DVD.

  10. Kind of nerdy, but I'm working on a "History Behind Super Smash Bros. Melee" video project.

Super Smash Bros. Melee has a lot of Nintendo history and nostalgia packed into it and I nearly own every game that it's based on, so I know exactly where each detail comes from.

So what I'm going to do is to show the original, then show how it's used in Melee. (That is...if I can get the dot crawling to clear up from my NES encodes. -___-)

  11. Anybody doing anything not copied from somebody else's stuff?

I'm transferring a couple of concerts I videotaped with a borrow DV camcorder (permission from the musician to do this for my own personal use), making titles/menus for various songs, makes a nice archive to add to my collection of "authorized bootleg" stuff. Note: This musican SPECIFICALLY ALLOWS AUDIO TAPING OF HIS CONCERTS FOR NON-COMMERCIAL USE so it's cool. And I did ask to make sure it was okay to videotape.

Also I'm transferring and editing various footage and still photos I took while on holiday in Paris, London, and Helsinki over the last few years. No, I didn't go there all on the same trip. I wish I could afford to travel there again but with the euro and pound at such high rates compared to the dollar, I have to travel through memories this year. Sigh.

I'm capturing some footage that reveals who really killed JFK. Unfortunately the video is kind of old, especially when whats-his-name steps out from behind the bush with that rifle. Afterwards, I hope to move on to the video from the Hoffa-Cam.

  13. I've been working on a pile of stuff lately. I finished doing season 2 of Everwood and the first 15 episodes of season 3. I've also just completed the first 15 eps of Jack and Bobby and am working on season 2 of Summerland, the last 2 episodes of Charmed, the short lived series MDs, and I'm capturing video work I shot and edited in college.

I guess you can say I'm keeping busy with this!

I'm transferring all my Beta tapes to DVD. So far I've done over 50. Quality has been very good. I've been dubbing from a Sony Super Beta Hi-Fi machine. I'm just about done.

  16. I have 227 6 hour VHS tapes to do.
I now (finally) have 3 VCR's and 3 capture cards, with 3 hard drives (just for capture, OS is on the 4th) to do it all.
Eventually getting all this onto DVDR.

Pretty quiet at the moment - I'm converting some of my X-Files disk sets to VCD so I can get about 8 episodes on one disk and watch while I'm working away from home.

6th season of Top Gear starts May 22nd, so that'll be my next DVD project.
    Regards,

    Rob

Hey just popping in (haven't been here for a while)...I STILL haven't started my home video project...as some may remember I was getting recommendations a while back.

Well I have everything purchased, but haven't had time to actually capture my VHS tapes yet. This seems to be the hardest thing to do...with so many other little projects I am doing, this big one is sitting over me like a very massive dark cloud.

    So yea, I suck. ^_^

    1) Converting my collection of Thunderbirds 2086 PAL and NTSC videos to DVD (still need a DVD burner) so until that day comes and I find a way to convert those PAL tapes without having to buy a $300 converting VCR.

I'm going to do that and learn how to make professional looking scene/chapter selection with looping screen shots.

2)Buy a good digital camcorder and document the build up of my car. So hush the doubter and shake them haters off me...

I grew up in Edmonton during the Eighties, and I have a ton of VHS footage of Wayne Gretzky and the Edmonton Oilers during their glory days. I'm making a video tribute to the memories of my youth, all my old heroes, all the best moments.

I too am transferring all of my non-replaceable Beta tapes to DVD. I'm going to try to buy commercial DVDs where I can, but some of this stuff is not commercially available.

Right now, I have about 5 two hour projects on the go, and I only have a few more tapes to capture.

My main concern is that I couldn't get a capture from several of my tapes that were recorded on another Beta machine. I am going to try them on the ancient 1981 model Beta at my Mom's place, but if that doesn't work it's off to a place with professional equipment.
