  1. JOINING MPEG-1 VCD CLIPS:

I have seen several posts about audio/video sync problems, so I'll thrown in my 2 cents.

    1. First I'm curious if the sync problem occurs when you cut the mpg, join the mpg or both.

    2. From my experience, the audio stream slightly lags behind the video stream. Is this true for all out-of-sync files?

    3. Here's my problem.
I have several mpg clips (around 200) that I need to join together. The videos were clipped by many different people using TMPGEnc. Some of the mpgs that I have were generated via frameserving from Premeire 6.0 to TMPGEnc. Although I would prefer to deal with avi's, I don't have that luxury because several people have provided mpg's and they do not have the raw avi files.

So, when I reassemble the mpg's using TMPGEnc, the end of the video is really out of sync. It progressively gets worse. The sync problem seems to have more to do with the number of clips that I join rather than the total time of all clips combined.

Considering the large volume of clips, what's the best(and hopefully simpleist) way to join the clips to solve the audio/video sync problem?

    Thanks.

  2. Yes, tmpgenc sometimes gets the audio out of sync. If you are using constant bit rate mpeg then there are many software (look under HOWTO edit on the left) available. Also give vcdcutter a try for joining. I found it to not let the audio and video go out of sync when tmpgenc does.
