    I was wondering if there is a program that will go onto my dv tape through firewire onto camera and erase all data/video?

    Your camera can erase by just recording over the tape with the lens cap on or with any video on the input in vcr mode.

    You really don't need to bother. The camera will erase as it records.

    Many people record black continuously over a new tape before using to maintain continuous time code.
