Now i have a movie i acidently put into ogm, it contains all the chapters etc. im wondering is it possible to convert it to another filetype.

Im mainly considering divx or xvid with mp3 audio. I dont mind if chapters are gone. THanks in advance.

You accidentally put it into an ogm??

So what video and audio compression did you use? Because it is quite possible to use DivX or XviD with mp3 audio in an ogm. You could remux to mkv and keep the chapters.

Just extract the ogg sound file with virtualdubmod and encode to mp3 and remux with the avi file that used to be ogm.

    mencoder.exe -ovc copy -oac mp3lame input.ogm -o output.avi

Re-encode the audio to mp3, direct stream the DivX 5.x video and remux to avi in one go. Default lame setting is I think alt-preset-standard., which although will give you great quality may make your filesize too large. You can use -lameopts to set the bitrate and other settings.
