  1. Just bought the movie Elektra and can't back it up. I have XP and double checked the drivers for the drive. I have a Sony DRU-510A and it wont even show it in the drive. The movie plays just fine in my DVD player for the TV but all it does in my comp is sit idle. When I put it in the drive tries to read it for about 30sec and then it stops, not even going into my computer and looking at the drive it shows up as no disc being there. Tried some of my other DVD,s and they all work just fine. Could be some sort of new software in the disc I don't know. Any ideas? I'm using DVD shrink it it even wont pick up the movie in the drive.

  2. Do you have another computer drive to test it on? I backed up just fine. Funny though, it's a single layer with no encryption.

  3. I wish I did, my other one bit the dust 2 months ago and I don't have the time to rebuild it.

  4. Widescreen has ERC (Enhanced Region Code) and CSS protection, but nothing major.

Try returning the disc for another one, otherwise you might be facing a hardware problem.

  5. OK just a quick update here. It ended up being the DVD burner. I switched it out with one from my old comp both were the same. Amazing something so simple was the problem. I was half expecting some sort of software glitch. Thanks for the replies guys

  6. I wouldn't throw away that old burner. Even if changing the drive fixed the problem it has to be the disk that is at fault if the previous burner played other DVD's but not Electra. I think you had a faulty disk and one burner that is a little more tolerant than another. [/quote]

I can't back it up either. Its brand new, and I'm using CloneDVD2 with ANydvd, and it always stops at 58% with the same error message about making sure all the files are there and its a properly mastered dvd.

Sounds like you've got a bent copy from China, mate !

My R1 "widescreen special edition" is a dual layer...

So? Try using the latest version of decrypter on it.

Seems every tuesday, the day new dvds come out, we get 2-3 topics about some dvd that can't be backed up, yet the answer is always the same.
