I'm somewhat of an amateur at the whole video capturing thing and I was hoping to get a little help. Basically I am trying to transfer a handful of VHS tapes onto my hard drive (in MPEG format). I have a VCR that is connected to the Iomega Super DVD QuikTouch via AV cables, which is connected to my computer via USB. I know that the Iomega Super DVD QuikTouch can actually capture video itself because I've done it and it works perfectly, with a minor problem: the captured video is in PowerDVD format which I can't work with in Pinnacle Studio. This is why I need the video to be in MPEG format, or at least a format that Pinnacle Studios can work with. I tried capturing through Pinnacle Studio (with the same setup), but it doesn't work. Now in the capture settings (Setup > Capture Source) under Capture devices > Video it lists "QuikTouch/USB2 Device". With this setting it still doesn't work, but I don't understand why. I have Pinnacle Studio version 8.12.7.0. Any help? Thanks.

Are the files on the DVDs created by the Iomega drive .VOB files?
I am guessing the Iomega packaged software burns a DVD that is in DVD-Video format for you.

Btw, Iomega's website is a little misleading when they talk about DVD-R, DVD+R, etc as formats. Those are DVD media types.

There's a couple of discussions over on the Pinnacle website about using Video Studio 8 to edit .VOB files.

Or you could use Womble. Many people here love it.
