  1. I'm trying to backup a dvd with shrink. However, the dvd pops out whenever I press the "Backup!" button. Shrink then crashes whenever I insert the disc again to continue forcing me to rip it to the HD first. What can I do to fix this? I've used shrink before but this never happened.

Also, would it be better to run shrink on a computer with a fast cpu with a slow(4200 rpm) HD or a slower cpu with a faster HD?

Hmm... Have you tried playing the dvd for a few seconds before attempting to shrink? I've found that if you play for a few seconds with PowerDVD for example, before burning, it 'locks' onto the proper key for un-encrypting... only thing I can think of...

As for the faster/slower deal... Can you even burn a DVD from a 4200rpm drive? Maybe at 1X? But if you can, I'd think you should go with the faster CPU and slower HDD. Here's my thinking... if you're shrinking the disc, most of the time is spent on thinking, not reading from the disc. Even with a fast computer and hard drive, shrinking will still take an hour or so - meaning that it's bottle necked by the cpu not the HDD ('cuz it takes only a few minutes (maybe 10) to read an entire DVD's worth of information). Whether I shrink to or from either my 10,000RPM SCSI or a 7200RPM IDE, I get about the same duration (with Athlon XP 1600+). Just my thought.. anybody else have a differing opinion?

  3. There should be DVD files on your pc that was generated by shrink. Just load the VIDEO_TS folder files into your favorite DVD burner.
    Quality is my policy.

The problem occurs before the dvd is shrunk, just right after I hit "Backup!"

I played the dvd with PowerDVD but the problem is still there.

I'll be burning it from a 7200. Its just the shrinking that I'm not sure about. I'll probably just use the faster cpu
