    Hello,

I'm looking for a program in which I can create my own sound effects. I'm tired of searching for royalty free effects online as they are often very low quality, so I would rather create my own.

Could you please recommend me some programs to look into. At the moment I just want to try some trials/demos, so price isn't really an issue.

I'm not being lazy I've already searched for programs like this, there are just so many out there. I thought it would save time if some of you kind folk could recommend the best ones.

    Thanks in advance.

    - That'd be one way. I've seen a video on how those guys recorded all those sound effects for Star Wars - they used a mic and a recorder. After recording what you can use as sound effect, you can try Sound Forge, Audition, Cakewalk (maybe?) to manipulte your files ...and there's another software - I don't remember its name, but it generates effects as synthesizers.

I think I've found what I'm looking for: FL Studio 5. It's simply amazing.

Fruity Loops ? That's a sequencer, like Acid.

Heh, I guess I was a bit vague in describing what I wanted.

I already record and manipulate foley effects using Adobe Audition. I wanted a piece of software in which I could digitally create sound effects and really tweek them to my preference. FL (Fruity Loops) Studio 5 lets me do this.

    EDIT:

If anyone cares, here's what I've used it for. I'm still learning but I'm pleased with the outcome so far. Vision Often is the video shop where I work part time incase you're wondering.

  8. I love Soundforge. I've also recently gotten Audition, but I've barely used it. I also use the Native Instruments Waves bundle. It's a VST effects and mastering bundle that is capable of some absolutely mind bending effects. Also, I use alot of softsynths. There are some freeware softsynths out there, but I mainly use Reason (which is also a sequencer/rhythm composer/loop manipulator and ROMpler (a ROM sampler). There are two synths--analog and digital; two samplers, one is vastly superior to the other; a drum machine; several effects racks; a sequencer; vocoder; several things in one package.
