Is it possible to open a ripped DVD and watch it using this version of PowerDVD? It came with my dell when I bought it last summer and maybe I'm wrong but all I can figure out how to do with it is play actual DVD's that I have in my hard drive.

  2. Yes. Click on one of the icons on the bottom-right (i think it looks like an eject button) and click "open media files". That should do it.

For dvd files you choose open dvd files on hard drive and browse to the VIDEO_TS and open that.

I dont have that option. The only options available on the tool bar thing is volume, exit, play, stop, skip, title menu, angle, subtitles, languages. And on the main menu there is resume movie, restart, title menu, eject, settings, help. Thats it. I dunno if the version dell gave me doesnt have the option to do anything else but play DVD's or if I'm just an idiot, but I cant find the option to play a DVD from the hard drive.

Press Prt Scrn from your keyboard and then open paint/edit/paste.If you dont have that option then its a typical dell screw up for the consumer taking out certain options.

There's what the taskbar of my program looks like. The four little buttons are "Title Menu", "Subtitles", "Language", "Angle". I dont think my version has the option to play things other than DVD's. I think Dell messed up.

  12. How about this:

If not try Media Player Classic->File->Open File->search for VIDEO_TS folder and select the first .IFO file.

I can verify that some Dell computers come with a version of PowerDVD 5 that does NOT have the option to play DVD's from the hard drive. My Dell at work is that way. I have my own purchased copy of PowerDVD 5 at home and it DOES have that option.

    He's not crazy.
