Before I go and get lost @ Microsoft online support-
Has anyone out there using a Microsoft wireless mouse and keyboard been annoyed by the "low battery message" that won't go away??
I've put BRAND NEW batteries in this thing and I still get low battery message! It's own software utility reports battery levels are perfect.
How do you turn this feature off? I'm ready to throw this POS against the wall and plug in my 10 year old IBM.
It prevents my monitor from sleeping too.

I do use the Wireless Mouse. I removing the batteries and putting them back in solves the problem but it seems you've already tried.
When you mean it "won't go away," does it stay on the screen all the time and clicking OK does not exit it or it just keep coming back when the Wireless Mouse is used. Maybe you could try reinstalling the Microsoft Mouse Software.
This is a off the subject, but what is the range on the Wireless Mouse? Mine has poor range compared to somoene else's I've used. It was a Logitech and would work halfway across the room. This one won't work 3FT away from the receiver. -
The message keeps popping up- it does close when I click OK but it pops back up at random. If it pops up before monitor goes in standby then monitor stays on.
Looked for software updates @ MS- non to be found.
Re-installed software.
The range is fine and it's within 15 inches.
Uninstalled software and used without it but it doesn't function real good.
Next thing I'm gonna try is using it directly thru usb port instead of ps2 adapter, however, I don't really have an extra usb at the moment unless I unplug my photo printer. (maybe a lack of real 2-way com on the ps2 port?)
Aggravating problem considering it has worked for 2 months w/out problems. -

Maybe you could try adjusting the keyboard repeat rate. -
Obviously using a usb port instead of ps2 didn't work!
Keyboard had a mind of it's own. I was actually generating characters with the space bar and return keys!!!!!!! -
My Microsoft Wireless Mouse is a pain in the ass too. Every time I fire up my computer I need to open Intellipoint and click the "hardware" tab to stop the mouse from randomly jumping to a different part of the screen.
I recall seeing an updated version of my software but I doubt it would help any more than a reinstall. It just had added features that my old mouse and keyboard are not able to utilize. -
Yeah, I get the random screen jumps and desktop properties box as well as the battery annoyance.
Might be frequency interference but why all of a sudden after working good for several months??
Dam- I hate to search thru the monster database and dumb "wizards" called Microsoft! - I bet I find no solution. -
My mouse is again operating correctly and I didn't do anything to fix it!
Jackel might have been on to something when mentioning interferrence of some sort. I have no idea what it is/was.
My 20 year old step daughter hasn't been here for a few days and she has a Nextel phone. Hmmmm? -
uninstall the utility software. the kb/mouse will still work, and it definitely can't cause a pop up....

The "generic" drivers caused too much lag for my tastes.
I've got up to date spyware and anti virus- no infections.
I'm gonna see if I can pinpoint specific frequencies of the MS wireless inputs and research the interference angle. -
theres something wher u can select it to not pop up even if its low. throw it away and get a xm1000 by logetic.

I couldn't find anywhere to turn off the battery polling.
I did find that it operates @ 27mz frequency but the only thing I could find that also operates there are remote controlled cars/boats.
Here's my theory- Step daughter has boyfriend-
Boyfiend brings his toy r/c car over to house-
Boyfriend leaves r/c car in step-daughters room-
Step-daughter is a slob! Room is a pig stye!
Controll knob gets pressed and activated due to sloppy houskeeping-
Mouse starts to behave eratic-
Step-daughter moves in with boyfriend and takes r/c car with her-
Mouse now is operating fine! -
Give the mouse his tail back & you won't hear any more complaints.

i have been experiencing problems with my MicroSoft wireless mouse & keyboard as well
the range is supposed to be 6 feet, but I constantly get the error/warning that the signal is weak and I should move the reveiver closer -- it is approximately 2 feet away......
there are many things that can interfere with these devices tho (speakers, monitors, TV's, nearby cordless phones, electric motors, amplifiers), and I am still trying to find the best placement for my receiver"To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright
