Viewing the AVI files themselves is not the issue, it's more a matter of how the DVD is burned. You can burn a DVD on a PC so that the files can be read by a Mac, but it depends on which buttons you check in your burning software. Give us more details and we can give you more help.
Major question: Uncompressed AVI files tend to be friggin' huge, so unless you're trying to transfer these to the Mac for editing purposes, you'll be able to fit a heck of a lot more video on the disc if you encode to MPEG-2 first, so what is it that requires you to move such AVI files in an uncompressed way? There are a bunch of different encoders you could use to shrink the video if you really don't want to convert to DVD spec, again we could be of more help if we know your particular needs.
Good luck! -
Check with your MAC end user. They will most likely
accept any common DV format. As for the AVI, just
make sure to burn it UDF and it should be fine.
I would not encode to mpeg-2. DV format will allow the recipient to easily handle and edit the video, and you will still save some space.
