Has anyone tried the 2.70 version of CCE Basic? I use 2.69 without problems but when I upgraded to 2.70 I get the following error message when I try to encode:

    cce_encoding_init()failed: unknown error

Does anyone else have a problem with this release?

  2. I'm currently using the trial version and I've had no problems.
Make sure you uninstall previous versions before installing the new one.

  3. Also testing out the trial version, no problems with any AVI or AVS files. Since its only a trial i didnt uninstall the older version, still no problems... But maybe its worth a try to uninstall first.

I have been using CCE Basic 2.7 for 4-5 months and have not any problems. I installed 2.7 over 2.69 with no issues. I just installed the latest 2.7 release over the 2.7 beta version with no problems as well.

Cinema Craft tech support sent me version a beta 2.7 3-4 months ago in response to an issue I was having with 2.69. 2.69 would stop encoding at 99% complete about 25% of the time for no reason at all. Version 2.7 fixed that issue.

CCE Basic version 2.7 is rock solid!

    I did uninstall 2.69 and installed 2.70.

I am using the purchased version of 2.69.01.10 and upgraded to version 2.70.01.02. I don't think it's the same as the trial version.

Maybe the purchased version is bugged up, and the trial version is OK.

Either way, when my trial time ends, I will surely buy it; great encoder.

Crap. I just tried the trial version of 2.70 and got the same error message as the paid 2.70 version. I reinstalled 2.69 and it works fine.

Does anyone have Cinema Craft tech support email address? It looks like I need to contact them.

Reminds me of something too. Also some older versions of CCE had some quitting behavior on some Intel systems. I noticed you both got prescott CPU's, after i recently started using this precott based celeron i had issues also. On all my AMD systems CCE has been very stable.

  12. Sorry hrlslcbr, didnt notice. So the problem is not limited to Prescott, that makes it even worse!
Lets hope they have a fix for you edg. I will most likely buy 2.70 soon, so far it looks like its better than any previous version i have, and for some reason its faster too. Maybe better CPU optimizing or something.

Yes, I had the latest versions. 2.69.01.10 works on my PC and upgraded to version 2.70.01.02 (both pay and trial versions), which didn't work.

Well, I sent email to the tech support group and will see what they say.

Well, there is a problem/change with the new V2.70 engine per the following response from CCE support. A new release will be coming................

    ************************************************** ********
    Dear Edward Good,

We finally found that the guess I told you in the previous mail was
right, that is, 2.70 engine has used SSE instruction sets which your
processor does not support. We will fix it in the next update
2.70.01.03. But we have another to dig out before releasing it,
so it will take a little more time.
Could you use 2.69.01.10 program until we release the update ?
You can download it at the page below.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Best regards,

They just released the new version (Cinema Craft Encoder Basic 2.70.01.04) which fixed the problem. Works great again!
