I have owned this Yamaha DV-S5750 Single DVD player for over 30 days now, and I am super happy with it. So much so, I wanted to share info if anyone is in the market. I have previously owned Sungale and Philips models which broke on me after about 6 months on each.
I use my DVD player daily, so I decided to step up and spend more on an HQ machine.
Pros:
1. Super easy region code hack (open tray, press 9,9,9,9 + region, then OK. that easy)
2. Excellent Sound and video quality
3. Simple user interface
4. "on screen" Zoom level disappears !!!!!! for unimpeded viewing.
5. Plays just about eveything including Divx (Divx does play well on it)
6. Auto Power-off (if wanted)
7. Controllable Display light, does NOT illuminate room.
Cons:
1. Remote is difficult to master in total darkness.
2. Price, $139.00 ( Not that bad, and so far worth it for me)
Overall, I am super-pleased and would give it a "Kick Ass" award if I worked for MaximumPC Magazine. If in the market, buy it. They thought of all the little things.![]()
