Here is a cool little item I ran across today, it is a keylock faceplate that uses one of your 3 1/2 inch drive bays, it has 2 jumpers that connect to two hard dirves, each hard drive can have it's own operating system, either the same system, if you just want the kids or wife to basically have thier own computer, or different systems for different uses. The key has 3 positions, boot drive one, boot drive 2 or no boot which makes a nice security feature in case you are away. Put a couple of 60 gig hard drives and you have pretty much 2 complete different systems, and it would work for windows xp on both if you wanted to go that way because the rest of the hardware would not change, the item costs less than $20. If anybody wants more info I would be glad to pass it on, I just picked up a 100g hard drive so I am thinking about doing it myself, use on of my existiing 40's for win98 and put xp on the 100g.

  2. It might be a useful piece of hardware for some people. It sounds very interesting, anyway.

However, for those with Windows XP Pro or 2000, individual users have their own desktops and favorites and such when they login. Furthermore, XP and 2000 support multibooting, so if you want to dual boot XP and 98, for example, there's no need to buy hardware to do so.

As a user of xp I understand that, however, users still have access to files that can cause damage to your system, and thats true even in a dual boot system, it's just another option that is not very expensive and much easier to manage than a dual boot or multi-user system. The link to more info and where to buy is http://www.nicklock.com
