I recently bought the 24 season1 because frankly I wanted to know what the hype was all about. But when I tried dvd shrink on the first disc, it had to compress the file to 55%. So then I figured maybe I should try making svcds. Using dvdtosvcd I managed to make a successful copy, in 6 hours.

1st off, I'd like to know what a 55% compressed dvd would be comparable to( ex: not much different, vhs, cable, ect). I'd just like to know what I should expect from a truly shrunken dvd.
2nd, I'd like to know if it were possible to get svcd quality/size on a dvd. I personnaly don't see a tremendous difference in visual quality when I convert dvd to svcd. So I'd really like to know if this were at all possible.

    thx in advance

If you don't see the difference, you must be compressing way too much. Personally, I would have split the disks into two and kept the quality, otherwise why buy DVD in the first place ?

Check out the What is DVD ? link to your left, and find the resolution that suits you best.

  4. use DVD Shrink and burn on a RW and watch it if the quality is good enough then use DVD Shrink. If you want to keep the quality then split them.
