This is my first post so sorry that this has been posted before. It's just that I have tried to remove the macrovision and have failed in doing so.
1st up, I tried using the file from http://www.digitalfaq.com/reviews/liteon.htm and found that the recorder didn't recognise the file. (Just said 'File' on the display.)
2nd. I tried updating the firmware from LiteOn's site http://www.liteonit.com.tw/DC/english/download/index.asp?flag=1&sn-style= . The funny thing was, was that after doing this, it DID remove the MV so I copied a couple of DVD's through the Playstation 2/LiteOn. Tried again a couple of days later and for some odd reason, couldn't burn anymore DVD's.
Now, at this stage, I just found out about making the 5005 region free and did so, and also found that looking at the SN that my recorder is showing to NOT have MV disabled, unfortunately.
I read on one of the threads on here that one of you managed to modify one of the chips? and successfully remove MV that way. Im obviously very stuck and am after any help you guys have to offer. Im very new to all of this stuff but my brother is an IT techy so if there's stuff that's a little technical he's there to help I guess.
Btw - Im in Australia if that makes any difference.
Thanks in advance guys![]()
