  2. Tried another burning app? Other disks? Anyway, get a new burner, the ND1300 is picky with media and it doesnt burn well on most -R disks. Actually it doesnt burn well at all. Thats my experience with it, its a piece of shit, so i wouldnt think that the burning app is to blame, but try something else to be sure.

NEC 1300, best burner I've ever used. Not a piece of shit, farthest thing from it. It burns anything I've used with it well, that's including all kinds of crappy generic discs that most other burners won't even complete a burn on. Sounds like you either had a lemon, not to mention didn't update the firmware.

  4. I kept the firmware up to date without any improvements, tried many kinds of media. It sucked even when burning at 2x and 2.4x. Good thing its dead now, lasted only around 300 disks! How crap is that? Thats the advantage with NEC, they break down so you HAVE to upgrade. To mention other burners from them, one guy here had 3 3520 in 2 weeks before he got a working one. They are the lemon experts... Im aware that some people here had good experiences with the 1300, thats why i called mine a Monday-drive, and NEC has mondays 4 days every week. Never get me to waste money on one again, no matter how good yours was, im not feeling THAT lucky. Playing Lotto is ok once in a while, but NEC???

  5. I've also got a 2500, awesome burner. I've done well over 1000 burns on my 1300, and I've done at least 500 on my 2500, they are outstanding burners. You got a bad drive, it happens with ANY brand.

Take a look over there as well as here, they're VERY well thought of burners. On CDfreaks you'll often see someone say 'I should have bought an NEC' when they bought another brand.

    The numbers speak for themselves:

    http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=127863&highlight=poll

Are you satisfied with your NEC 35xx burner?
9 out of 10 people said yes, 149 voting.

    http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=113670&highlight=poll

Which 16x DVD writer should I buy?
NEC EASILY won the poll at 39%, with 806 people voting.

Users on CDfreaks are generally VERY knowledgeable on these subjects, so I guess that the large amount of users that favor NEC are all idiots?

Sorry I don't have the answer to the original question, but the reason is NOT because NEC burners are junk . More details would be useful, such as if it is giving this error consistently with this media, if he's restarted his computer (I've had DVD Decrypter sometimes lock up until you restart), what firmware he's using - official or modified, burn speed, etc.

  6. Its not the first time i had problems with NEC, during the late 90'ies i had some CD ROMs breaking down. 2 NEC and 1 Sony. Plus some Plextors at work, crap too at the time. I had Pioneers also (at twice the price, well worth it), and Teac and Yamaha, they never had problems. What a coincidence, i try my best to hide how shocked i am... not. Im happy NEC works well for some, over time it never did for me. And btw, this fantastic ND3520 they are talking about, i tried one this week, not impressed, the 109 does better on -R media. Didnt try +R.

i believe i've burned .img files with dvd decrypter before, i cant recall exactly, its been a while..

here is soemthing you might try as a work around.

    1) mount .img with daemon tools

    2) rip virtual drive with img file mounted with dvd decrypter in iso mode

    3) burn iso to dvdR with dvd decrypter.

  8. Color me not buying the NEC bash coming from this fool.

  9. whats that ward? Problem with conversations, we dont know how to discuss in a forum? Am i not allowed to say that NEC has never worked for me, that its the worst i ever had? Am i alone having bad experiences with NEC? Do a forum search and you find theres alot of what you call fools here. Im talking out from MY experience in case you didnt notice. Next time you read before posting retarded comments. There was absolutely no reason for you to take this thread down to your level.

  10. And you too steve, you will have to show me where i called NEC-people idiots, back up your statements man. And by the way, 39% and 806 votes is NOT AT ALL impressive.

  11. Guys, please try and answer the OP's question. If you want to praise/bash NEC drives (or any other make for that matter), start your own thread.

There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary...

  12. Yup, already answered, had no success with ND1300 too, but try other apps and media first. Like to add one thing; do a test with DVDInfoPro if you manage to burn with another App, if there are read errors you most likely need a new burner, and remember to put the old one on an alter and worship it.

The firmware is 1.08 ( which is the latest) and i tried it with different disks, and yes it is giving these errors constantly. I recently upgraded the firmware so i have the tendency to think it is coming from this... . could i reset the firmware?? Eventhough this does not belong in this tread but perhaps related i have also a problem with disc at once whi9lst using nero. could this be related??

  14. 1.08 latest, i dont think so. About this time last year i was using 1.0B, i think 1.0C was the latest last time i checked. Hope you dont mind to check it again and update if theres a newer.

Also hope someone else can tell you about Nero, i have never used it for DVD. i guess it could be related, if the problem is bad disks or bad burner. Thinking closer about it, it sounds like you could really be onto something there, when my ND1300 died it was still able to write CDs, so i used it untill burnatonce started to say something like "unable to finalize disk". I don't know how close that is to Nero's Disk At Once, probably not so close since you have problem with DVD and mine was with CD... Good luck anyway, let us know what you find out.

  15. My reason for making my points about NEC burners is quite clear: To point out that it's ridiculous to claim that his problems are the cause of NEC drives being 'pieces of shit'. thor300 wants to use that as the reason for his problems, which is both ridiculous and of no value in helping to solve his problems.

As I said in my last post, more info was needed. Now that crazydutch has pointed out that he's having trouble with all media and it occured after a FW flash, it's likely a bad FW flash.

Two suggestions: try flashing it with new FW, I'm currently using Herrie's modified FW with great results. Search for 'herrie's' to get his website. Also, for burning DVD VIDEO content I'd recommend DVD Decrypter, one thing to note is that it only burns IMAGE files.

All the issues appear to be solved after I flashed the drive with the latest firmware. Thanks for the suggestions
    sorry for being human,
it appears NOT to be a common mistake

  17. Good to hear it was just a bad FW flash as I suggested. Again this just shows why I was making it clear that 'NEC burners are pieces of shit' was not the answer to your problem.

  18. They cant even be flashed correctly, LoL.
Steve, pls dont try to pretend that you were interested in helping crazydutch, go back and look at your first post, you were only posting to praise your holy NEC. Going with the wind after a mod was here are we?

You are in breach of the forum rules and are being issued with a formal warning.
I have had it with you guys.
