  1. I have a Windows system at home and a Mac at work, and I can't tell you how valuable that GSpot program is for me on the PC side. I'd REALLY like to use something similar on the Mac side, since most of the software is different. In fact, other than some formats, everything is different from each sustem, in my case.

  4. If you open an AVI in QuickTime Player then choose Window > Show Movie Info, you can see some of the info about your AVI. At least, it will tell you the audio and video characteristics and codecs. I don't know if QuickTime allows you to see any of the meta data.

    DivX Tool is mainly a fixing tool, but it allows you to view a lot of meta data on AVIs.

    Maetel is right on the money...
    Also, the info command in VLC will get info
    on those files Quicktime will not play.
