Let's say you created an AVI file and the Audio and Video are out of sync.
Open the file in MediaPlayerClassic
Look for parts in the file where you see closeups of people talking, or some area where you can obviously tell the sync is off.
From the MediaPlayerClassic menu:
View--->Options--->Filters--->Audio Switcher--->Audio Time Shift(ms)
Check the box, and enter 1000 in the number field. Press "Apply" button.
See if the sync gets better or worse. If worse, enter -1000 and see if it gets better. The cool part is that you can continue playing the file as you try to find the proper timings - just hit "Apply" to see the effect in real time.
To fine tune, increase or decrease by 200ms amounts, then 100ms once you're really close. Adjust accordingly. You'll find it, sooner than later.
This won't work in every case, like in a file where the audio slowly begins to drift and is way off sync by the end. Oh, and remember to uncheck the audio time shift box when you're done, otherwise the next thing you play in MPC will be off sync thanks to the player.
