  1. I downloaded a DIVX movie which is in a progressive scan format. What program would work best to have it converted to a standard interlaced video?

The reason why I want to do this is because I want to burn it to a DVD using Pinnacle Studio 9. I burned it already with S9 in the progressive format, it plays fine on my computer but my older dvd player and TV doesnt play it well, the picture jumps the whole time. Would changing it to interlaced fix this problem? Studio 9 doesnt seem to change it to interlaced

Probably won't make a difference. If you are in NTSC land then chances are you own many commercial disks that are progressive. The player takes care of the interlacing on the way out to the TV.

It might help if we understood the source file and the target a bit more, as jumpiness can also come from format conversions and other things. Things like frame rate in and out etc.

Finally, S9 will have some way of doing this. You will be looking for a setting in the output or encoder settings. It might say something like Progressive/Lower Field First/Upper Field First. Upper and Lower might also be called top and Bottom, or A and B. Regardless, you want the output to be Lower/Bottom/B first.

Like I said, more info always helps.
