  1. I am trying to convert VOB files to AVI with VirtualDub-MPEG2(1.5.10)
    (File source is from my SONY vidcam.)

    all goes fine till I do "Save AVI..." and this pops up":-

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    No audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    My audio config went like this:-
    Audio----->compression-->mpeg layer 3/Lame mp3/ or any other choice

    but no joy..[ AFAIK I have all the rqd. codecs installed on my machine ]

    and after here I'm stuck

    any thoughts anyone ?
    TIA

    Before vdub can compress the audio to mp3, it first mus decompress the audio in the source file. It is telling you it does not know how to do this. Try opening the source file in Gspot (latest version) or avicodec. One of these tools should tell you what the source audio format is. You should then be able to download and install the appropriate codec (it is probably Ac3).

    The audio is probably AC3 and if you are using VDub-Mpeg from fcchandler, here is a link to the AC3 Decompressor.
