  1. I wanted to know which program I can use to burn avi or mpeg files to dvd besides nero which took 4 hours to convert an avi movie file to dvd.
    I have an compaq presario 2.16 ethalon with 1 gb of memory please help guys.

    It takes a long time to convert AVI to MPEG-2 DVD spec format.

    No "fast" way around that.

    However you can get better quality than what NERO can do but speed wise it probably will not be that much faster.

    1.) TMPGEnc Plus
    2.) CCE BASIC
    3.) MainConcept MPEG Encoder

    Those are the 3 main tools for converting video files to MPEG-2 DVD spec.

  4. Add Canopus Procoder Express to that list.
    It's even cheaper than CCE and MCE, and IMHO it does a better job, with less user input to mess up settings

    Canopus Procoder does a great job for interlaced video. Sony Vegas (MainConcept bult-in) and TMPGEnc are my favorite ones.
