are you making vcd, svcd or dvd? if you make vcd be sure to load the vcd template.

  3. yes im making a VCD not svcd
and ive loaded in the correct template (VIDEO CD (PAL).MCF)
also tried the NTSC 1 but its just the same??

i think now i got to think about COMPRESSING? the divx so it smaller....is this it????? that way i can convert the smaller divx into a mpeg for VCD

the total amount of megs for the WHOLE movie is 1,377 (never seen a divx this big before??)
    thx for replying

  4. I'll say this again, how long is the movie ??? it doesn't matter for VCD what the mb's are, one 80min CD will hold 80min's of movie (at VCD spec settings). Thus if your movie is 3 hours long it will take 2 and a bit CD's...

  5. ok the movie is 128minuites long BUT its in DIVX format and the total amount of megs for the movie in divx is 1.34gigs
the divx is in 2 sections 1 = 688megs 2=689megs now when i convert the number 1 into a vcd using the VIDEO CD .MCF settings it converts BUT it converts to 1.69gigs now when i load this in nero it goes way past the 90minuites mark...i cant see further?

u say "it doesn't matter for VCD what the mb's are, one 80min CD will hold 80min's of movie (at VCD spec settings). "

BUT what do u mean by VCD SETTINGS??? ive allways done my converting like this and never came across a DIVX file at 1.34gigs,,,i know this must be something to do with the person that has ripped it but is there a way i can SHRINK the divx file ive got? that way i can convert the smaller divx file into a MPEG for vcd
    thx for replying again

  6. I am sure you've done something wrong, as a VCD size will always be the same for the same minutes if u use the same settings!!!! And you can's 'shrink' it, there would not be any point even if you could! Maybe you did not compress the audio to mp2, but only to wav from mp3? Or I don't know... but if the movie doesn't last longer than 148 mins than you will be able to put it on 2 cds.
