  1. Does anyone know how can I normalize mp2 files.
Here is the situation. I have almos 600 mpeg2 musical video clips and they have difference on volume.

I'm looking for a tool(s) to create a batch to:
    1. Demultiplex the mpeg2
    2. Normalize all mp2 files
    3. Multiplex the files again.

    Please help me on that.

    Thanks.

Have you looked at Magix Audio Cleaning Lab? I have used that a few times with my video files. I mostly use it to convert MP3 to WAV so I can then convert the video file in dolby digital. You can bring up almost any sound format file and then select the whole track and then under tools select the normalize button.
You can check this out and see if it works. The website has a trial version you might can work with but all in all it is about $40.

600 , Im sitting at around 500 at the moment and I just gave up and now ignore the problem .
The quickest way off the top of my head (theoretically) is to make the videos into a dvd(s) and then disect the VOBs to rip the whole soundtrack off , convert to wav , normalise it and then er.. stick it back together again . As its a VOB which is essentially just a mpg Im sure this will work ( er.. probably) . Details and tools required will come up if you search the site .

As far as a tool that will batch file it , I know there are macro writing tools out there , maybe one of these could do it .

  4. I thought about this. But it's a very long process.

I'm trying to find a way to write a Macro or get a batch mode that I can do all this process at once.

Its a piece of piss to batch normalize , its the demultiplexing and remultiplexing that stops it becoming a one stop shop .

You can use 'batch demux' from the download section from the link in my signature.

  8. Johns0,

And what do you suggest to batch demulplex and multiplex the mpeg2 files?

  11. Sartori,

the TMPEGenc Xpress has this tool to demultiplex, but not a batch for this.

I found out with TMPEGenc Editor a way to batch demux and multiplex them. However I'm having some problems to use Besweet to normalize the MP2.

Could you help me on that?!
    Thanks.

  13. I have already demultplexed all my video files. However I still haven't found out a solution to normalize the mp2 files.

Does any one have a clue?!

    Thanks

    To demux: demux.exe
    mp2 to wav: mpg123
    Normalize: normalize.exe
    Reencode wav to mp2: toolame
    Mux back: mplex

All that's left is some (not so) fancy batch scripting.
    Google is your friend.

Here's the quick way to normalize the file losslessly (per doom9 faq)

    BeSplit -core( -input infile.mp2 -output outfile.mp2 -type mp2 ) -ota( -G max )

Use the Beta version above. Earlier versions don't include this function.

  17. I found a way that is working very good.
I'm using tmpgenc editor to batch demux the files.
And with goldwave software I convert it to wav and use a feature called Match volume. I can do this process all at once with a batch feature they have.
Later I use tmpgenc editor to mux. it again.
works fine and it's not a very long process as it looks like.

  18. Could you show me how to batch demultiplex them with tmpgenc editor? I went to files, mpeg tools, simple-demultiplex but it only allows me to demultiplex one file at a time. I want to load 10 files in, let it demultiplex one after the other so i don't have to sit there all day. thanks

i've got a program that i'm going to use on my mp3 files when i have time, that alters the scale factor to change the inherent normalisation on playback without altering any of the compressed sound - i.e. no further distortion, and reversible. catch is you can only do 1.5db at a time, but its not too big a problem.

is there anything that will do the same for mp2s? i imagine they decode in much the same way?

  20. Hiwass,

You have to add the file and use the "Batch resgister" option.
Then you can start to demux all at once. The same works for the multplex option.

hm i just tried to use mp3gain (that prog) with an mp2 file and it made windows bluescreen

    whoops

though i think it might have been more along the lines of a recurrent problem i'm having with my hard disc drivers (i'm using an ATA133 plug-in card with my 250gb HD..)

    bugger

    oh well

i wonder if there's an MP2 gain anywhere or whether the replay gain variable is an mp3-only thing.

    Download This: http://besweet.notrace.dk/BeSplitv0.9b6.zip

Put it in the same folder as your .mp2 files

Right Click and save the file called Norm.bat located below. Put it in the same folder as your .MP2 files. Then, just double click on norm.bat. The normalized files will be named n-YourFileName.mp2
--Make sure there are no spaces in the .mp2 file names.---

    norm.bat
