  1. You know the TV settings, Brightness, Contrast, Hue, Color, Sharpness... I was wondering if that records into the dvd recorder? Because I always thought the TV picture settings was external and had no affect on the recording. I assumed the recording just recorded the signal from the Cable/SAT box. I've been looking at various screenshots of the same TV programming from different users and they all have different colors or look to the images. Can someone shed some light on this?

The same channel can look vastly different from cable system to cable system. Even two (or more people) with the same Satellite system (such as Dish Network etc.) can get different quality based on location and strength of the signal etc.

Other factors ... some stand alone DVD players have IRE adjustment ... if one has it set "corret" and another "wrong" they will look different. Also some stand alone DVD recorders and capture cards etc. have adjustments for picture settings (like color saturation, sharpness, brightness etc.) and people playing with those can make them look different.

It has nothing to do with the TV itself.

  3. sharpness can and will have difference when playing back on the television set..if the source is old or blocky..

i would also point out a majority of the captures are from digital cable or satellite with an S-video cable..

You clearly did not read the original post.

The settings on the TV have no bearing on the recording.
