I have a video in 4:3 format. On this video, there are black bars at the top and bottom. At the bottom black bar, there is an occasional scrolling text message that I want to get rid of. Since it's on black, it's easy to get rid of. Can you do this in Virtualdub/MOD? I only want the overlay to be occasional.

How do I crop? Won't it lost part of the video? Since it's only one small point in the AVI and the black bars disappear to show a standard 4:3 video halfway into the video. I don't want to crop out that video.

  3. Logoaway filter, or Region Remove filter.

Easiest way is to crop the black on the bottom, then add a black box back. Then export your video as another AVI.

Cropping will (obviously) crop out a portion of the video, hence my suggestion to try a filter or two.

Do the editing in segments. If you used AVISYNTH, it could be done in segments all in one pass.
